Christine has been a South of Scotland MSP since 1999.Joining the party 35 years ago - Christine has held a number of party posts. She was Shadow Minister for Social Justice in the SNP's Shadow Cabinet and has been spokesperson for older people, for social security, convenor of the Parliament's Health Committee and convener of the Justice 1 Committee.Previously a secondary teacher and solicitor, she has an M.A, LLB, Dip. Colin Beattie, was born in Forfar the son of a hospital porter. He entered the financial services industry and rose to a senior level. In October 2006 he gave up his career in order to focus on something which is of immense importance to him – raising the quality of life for people in Midlothian . Margaret Wison has been married to her husband Jim for 37yrs. and has two daughters She comes originaly from Bonnyrigg but moved to Penicuik in 1970. Margaret and Jim ran a successful  electrical business called MAGLIN DOMESTICS for 20yrs in Penicuik . they recently sold it on to a local lad and it is still thriving. She has always had an interest in the local community and served on the local community council for 8yrs. In her time on the Community Council she was the convener for civic affairs and enjoyed interacting with groups and societies within Penicuik. Having ran her own business for so long she knows what the pressures are on small businesses struggling to survive in an "out of town " shopping culture which now threatens all town centres.  With both common sense and business sense she is working hard with local businesses and the wider community to improve Penicuik Click here to contact Margaret.

Owen Thompson was raised in Loanhead. Educated at Paradykes Primary School, Beeslack High School and then Napier University. Elected Councillor for Loanhead in November 2005 Owen strongly believes in the importance of listening to the community he represents. Alyn Smyth was born in Glasgow in 1973. Alyn grew up in Saudi Arabia, returning to Scotland in 1986. He attended Leeds and Heidelberg Universities, and graduated from Nottingham Law School in 1996. Alyn also achieved a Masters degree in European Studies from the College of Europe in Warsaw. After a spell of working with Scotland Europa in Brussels, Alyn moved to London where he qualified with Clifford Chance, a commercial law firm. Ian Hudghton was first elected to the European Parliament in 1998, as the North East SNP's unanimous choice candidate in the 1998 by-election following the death of Dr Allan Macartney. Prior to this he served as one of Scotland's four members of the EU Committee of the Regions. He was a successful campaign co-ordinator and election agent organising memorable victories for John Swinney and the late Allan Macartney.An active member of the SNP since joining Forfar Branch in 1967, Ian was elected to the SNP controlled Angus District Council in 1986, serving eight years as Housing Convener. From 1994-96 he was Depute Leader of the minority SNP administration of Tayside Regional Council. In 1996 Ian became full-time Leader of Angus Council, prior to which he ran a decorating business for over twenty years. He is married with a son and daughter. In the 1999 European elections Ian headed the SNP list, and at the SNP Annual Conference 2003, delegates voted overwhelmingly in his favour to once again head the Party's list of candidates for the 2004 Euro-elections in which the SNP held its 2 seats. In July 2004 Ian was elected President of the European Free Alliance and Vice President of the Greens/EFA, then the 4th largest political group in the new, enlarged, European Parliament. He currently serves on the Fisheries, Transport & Tourism and Single Market & Consumer Protection Committees, using every opportunity to highlight the benefits which independent nation status for Scotland would bring! In September 2005, Ian was elected to succeed Winnie Ewing as President of the Scottish National Party at the Party's Annual Conference, and was re-elected unopposed in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
